“He Locked His Pregnant Wife In A Dog Shed — Then The Mafia Boss Did The Unthinkable” DARK ROMANCE.
Chapter 3
The convoy did not leave after the kennel was opened. It remained parked along the snow-covered driveway, engines idling in disciplined silence. Security lights continued to glow across the estate, but the atmosphere had changed. Orders no longer flowed from the mansion. They moved outward from Adrian’s position in the courtyard.
Inside, guests whispered. Some quietly excused themselves. Others pretended nothing unusual had occurred, though every camera on the property now belonged to Adrian’s team. Damon stood near the entrance, jaw tight, trying to reclaim authority through posture alone. Margaret remained behind him, speaking in urgent tones, but her confidence had thinned.
Adrian did not react to the tension. He guided Elena toward the steps of the mansion, not with possession, but with protection. One of his guards followed at a respectful distance. Another stayed near the courtyard, monitoring movement.
Inside the grand foyer, warmth replaced the freezing air. The contrast made her shiver. Adrian instructed his team to secure the perimeter and disable remaining exterior feeds. The estate’s surveillance system would now route through his network.
Damon noticed immediately. “That system belongs to this property,” he said sharply.
Adrian turned slightly. “It belonged,” he corrected. The difference was subtle but devastating.
He walked further into the room, stopping only when he was satisfied Elena had stable footing. A medical professional from his convoy entered quietly after receiving a signal. Without ceremony, the doctor began assessing her condition, checking pulse and temperature.
Damon tried to intervene. “There is no need for outside involvement.”
Adrian’s gaze did not rise. “There is every need,” he replied. “A pregnant woman was confined in subzero conditions. That becomes my concern.” The words carried weight, but not emotion. They were factual.
While the doctor worked, Adrian stepped aside and made a brief call in a low voice. Damon could not hear the details, yet he recognized the tone — business tone, structured, final. When Adrian ended the call, he faced the room. “Your financial accounts are temporarily restricted,” he informed Damon calmly, “pending review of the agreements between us.”
The announcement landed like a physical blow. “You cannot freeze my assets without cause.”
Adrian tilted his head slightly. “Cause exists.” He did not elaborate. The silence that followed was heavier than any threat.
Damon attempted to regain leverage by raising his voice. “This is personal interference. She is my wife.”
Adrian finally stepped closer to him. “She was locked outside,” he said quietly, “in plain view, with surveillance recording the act.” That detail changed the room. Guests who had remained nearby grew uneasy. Staff members avoided eye contact.
Adrian continued, his tone controlled. “I do not involve myself in domestic disputes. But I do respond to breaches in contract, security, and human safety.” Human safety — the phrase lingered.
Damon swallowed, but refused to fully retreat. “What do you want?”
For the first time, something resembling a faint shift appeared in Adrian’s eyes. “Accountability,” he answered. “Not revenge, not punishment. Accountability.”
He turned slightly toward Elena, seated now in one of the mansion’s chairs, wrapped in a coat provided by his team. The doctor confirmed she required rest and warmth, but showed no immediate danger. Adrian’s attention remained steady. “You will remain under my protection until this matter is resolved,” he stated.
Damon laughed once, but it sounded forced. “And if I refuse?”
Adrian paused. The quiet stretched across the room, drawing every gaze toward him. “If you refuse,” he said evenly, “your remaining access ends.” No raised voice, no dramatic gesture, just certainty.
Outside, one of his security vehicles repositioned, blocking the estate gates. Damon finally understood something critical. This was not a negotiation beginning. It was a system already in motion.
