Mafia Boss Dog Saves Officer Buried Alive… What He Did Next Will Break Your Heart True Miracle
Chapter 6
Two nights later, Carr caught the whisper that turned his blood to ice.
He was taking out trash behind the club — menial work Vincent loved assigning him lately — when he heard voices from the half-open office window above.
“Shallow grave out at St. Agnes. Old section, no cameras. Make it look like Leo ordered the hit on his own guy.”
Vincent’s voice. Smooth. Unhurried.
“Cops find a body with a wire. Leo goes down for killing a fed. We step in, clean up, take the throne.”
A pause.
“Hell, we’ll even give the dog a front-row seat. Let him watch his master burn.”
Carr stood in the alley with a bag of garbage in his hand, heart hammering so loud he was sure they’d hear it through the wall.
Rocco padded up beside him, pressed his shoulder against Carr’s leg, and stared up with those steady amber eyes.
“Yeah,” Carr breathed. “I heard it too.”
He still had the emergency extraction code. One call. A team would pull him out before sunrise. Case over. Leo in cuffs. Mission success.
He looked down at the dog who had twice saved his life. Who slept outside his door. Who somehow saw through every lie he’d ever told.
Carr closed the burner phone and slipped it back into his pocket.
Not yet.
He didn’t know the grave was already dug. He didn’t know Vincent had moved the timeline up by twenty-four hours. He only knew that when the moment came, Rocco would be there.
And for the first time in his career, Jonathan Carr wasn’t sure whose side he’d be standing on when the dirt started flying.
